After a difficult run of results in the opening stages of his rookie campaign, Monaco felt like the weekend where everything finally began to come together. Starting fifth, his best qualifying result so far, Drugovich produced a calm and controlled drive around the principality.
RACE HIGHLIGHTS: 2026 Monaco E-Prix, Round 10
The race itself was heavily shaped by strategy, with 267 overtakes recorded in Sunday’s race, Drugovich remained firmly in contention throughout. After briefly dropping back during the early laps, he steadily worked his way back toward the front, moving into the top three on Lap 26 before a penalty for Mahindra's Edoardo Mortara promoted him to second over the line, just behind reigning champion Oliver Rowland.
For the 25-year-old driver, the podium marked an important turning point after admitting in Berlin, where he scored championship points for the first time, that he was still learning how to fully adapt to Formula E's all-electric machinery.
“First of all, Monaco is just a special place for me," he said. "And it has treated me so well throughout the years. I’m just really, really happy. I think things are starting to come around, and starting to go in the right way."
For many motorsport fans, Drugovich hardly needs an introduction. The Brazilian built one of the most successful junior careers of his generation, collecting 47 race victories and 71 podium finishes across multiple categories. His rise through the ranks included championship titles in both Euroformula Open and the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
Now in a full-time seat with Andretti, Monaco provided Drugovich the right opportunity to show just what many knew he was capable of achieving.
“This is what I need.” He continued, “I need consistency, especially to be consistent around the top five and then from there on we can fight for victories and that’s what I want.”
His podium also represented an important result for Andretti as the American team continued its fight in the Teams’ championship, sitting just one point behind Envision Racing in fifth.
