Biography

Multiple Formula E champions DS TECHEETAH will look to reassert itself as the dominant force in the series, with its formidable line-up of 2019/20 champion Antonio Felix da Costa and double title-winner Jean-Eric Vergne back for Season 8.

The team took over the entry previously held by Team Aguri, entering the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in the 2016/17 season.

In the team's debut season, Frenchman Vergne led the outfit to a fifth-place finish overall. Building on a respectable start, the team drafted in former World Endurance Championship winner and Le Mans champion Andre Lotterer for 2017/18. With JEV and Lotterer in place, the two became a formidable force, bringing home the series' first-ever one-two finish after a dramatic showdown on the streets of Santiago.

From that moment, the team strode from strength to strength, challenging Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler for the title all the way down to the wire in the 2017/18 season, eventually falling just two points short.

Back with real bite for the 2018/19 season, the team gained the backing of French manufacturer DS. A new powertrain arrived inside the DS E-Tense FE.19 and the team dominated, clinching the Teams' title in the New York season finale. Like other manufacturers in Formula E, DS is able to test, develop and refine the latest all-electric powertrain technology on the race track, which finds its way into DS' electric road cars and vehicles.

DS TECHEETAH took Teams' honours in the Season 6 Berlin finale, having secured four wins in five by Round 9 of the season. That included a record-equalling three on the spin at the hands of Drivers' Champion Antonio Felix da Costa between Round 5 in Marrakesh and Round 7 in Berlin, plus one via 2018/19 title-winner Jean-Eric Vergne.

That made it three back-to-back Drivers' crowns and two Teams' titles now for the Sino-French outfit but with competition stepping up a notch further in Season 7 - da Costa wound up eighth, though just 13 points shy of champion Nyck de Vries in the end, while DS had to settle for third spot.

Teammate Jean-Eric Vergne finished 10th, with a Rome victory his highlight of the season and a podium in New York City in the shadow of Manhattan another high point. The two drivers, with three titles between them, were a match all season - it's going to be fascinating seeing them toe-to-toe again to round out Gen2 in Season 8.
