The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to Mexico for the sixth time in the series' history. This time around the all-electric racing action comes straight from the Autodromo Miguel E. Abed outside the colourful city of Puebla and in the shadow of the Popocatepetl volcano.
Lucas di Grassi took victory number three in Mexico, leading Rene Rast for a dramatic Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler one-two after a penalty saw Pascal Wehrlein and the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team denied a maiden victory in the CBMM Niobium Puebla E-Prix Round 8.
After a perfectly played race in Puebla, Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) stormed to his second ABB FIA Formula E World Championship win, leaping to the top of the Drivers' standings in the process after a masterful performance in Mexico.
The Autodromo Miguel E. Abed, is one of Mexico's premier racing circuits and only the second to receive an FIA homologation in the country. Previously host to the NASCAR Mexico series and the FIA World Touring Car Championship between 2005 - 2009, the Mexican circuit now adds all-electric racing to its notable races.
With an infield section surrounded by an oval and a variety of track configurations to play with, Formula E has adapted the circuit with a string of 15 corners for a 2.98km lap of the Autodromo Miguel E. Abed. For Puebla, the ATTACK MODE activation zone will come in the form of an extension to Turn 8, with Formula E's version of a Joker lap adding a curveball for the teams when they make the plunge for the extra 35kW boost.
There'll be banking to deal with, too, as the circuit rounds the outer oval through the final Turn 15, with a slingshot out onto the long back straight likely to be crucial as the tight right hander into Turn 1 will prove a hotspot for overtaking.
