Andretti driver Jake Dennis has become the first driver in ABB Formula E history to win the São Paulo E-Prix from pole position, but it was far from an easy task!
“Good strategy, a good car and good track position when we needed it. That first Attack Mode was crucial when we took it,” Jake explained.
Despite all his hard work in the early stages of the race, which saw many drivers taking turns at the front of the field, it ultimately came down to a one-lap sprint to the finish. This came after a huge crash for Pepe Marti, which brought out the first Red Flag of Season 12.

“I felt like it was ours before the Red Flag and then I wasn’t too sure how it was going to play out.”
In the end, our Season 9 champion didn’t need to worry. During the race restart, Oliver Rowland couldn’t catch the Andretti driver and Dennis crossed the line to take the first victory of the season.
HISTORY: Who are all the Formula E champions from Seasons 1 to 11?
“I’m so happy,” Jake said. “I didn’t get a win last season and to get it back on the first race is a testament to the off-season work.”
All that sees Dennis head the Drivers' running and Andretti the Teams' - with Porsche heading the way in the Manufacturers' table as we head to Mexico in the New Year on 10 January.
