Wind Energy
ARGENTINA

The Gold Standard (GS) carbon offsetting initiative supported by Formula E in Argentina is based in Patagonia, in the southeast region and the impacts are both global, national and local in scale. The project is disruptive to the local reliance on thermal power plants currently burning fossil fuels through the installation and operation of two wind power plants, which have a combined total installed capacity of 77.4 MW.

This zero-emission green energy is fed into the national grid at a scale not seen before in this country helping contribute to national sustainable development. The project saves 189,429 tonnes of CO2 annually, increases the potential for commercial and industrial activities in the local area and contributes to 5 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (3, 7, 8, 9, 13).
