Rowland storms first Practice in Rome setting new course record

Nissan e.dams' Oliver Rowland kicked off the first timed track session of the 2019 GEOX Rome E-Prix, setting a new course record of 1:29.738s - more than six seconds faster than last seasons record of 1:35.467s set by former Mahindra driver Felix Rosenqvist. The British driver was followed by DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne and Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler's Lucas di Grassi who both set times under 1:30.000s. With less than a second between the top 15 cars, expect close racing here in Rome.

With all 22 cars and drivers making their way around the 21-turn, 2.87km Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR, which weaves its way around Rome's historic EUR district, the morning's cool temperatures saw drivers struggling to find the breaking points.

Turn 8, located on the brow of the hill, saw cars jumping with Geox Dragon's Jose-Maria Lopez with all four wheels leaving the ground. As the track action starts to hot up closer to the race, expect sparks to fly.
