Mahindra retain Heidfeld & Rosenqvist for season four

Mahindra retain Heidfeld & Rosenqvist for season four

Mahindra Racing has today confirmed that Nick Heidfeld and Felix Rosenqvist will remain as the team’s driver line-up for season four of the FIA Formula E Championship, which starts on December 2 & 3.

Rosenqvist, who will be partnering with the team on a long-term basis, was last season’s top-scoring rookie, securing Mahindra’s maiden victory at the Berlin E-Prix at Tempelhof in June. Alongside three impressive Julius Baer pole positions, the Swedish driver secured third place in the drivers’ and teams’ championship - the team’s highest championship standing to date in Formula E.

Heidfeld will stay with the team for a third season after a strong year behind the wheel. It started with a spectacular podium finish in the season-opener in Hong Kong, and included a hat-trick of third-place finishes in Monaco, Paris and Berlin, before taking home his and the team’s final podium at the inaugural Qualcomm New York City E-Prix.

Mahindra has also once again tasked the fans with designing their livery for their season four championship contender, the M4Electro, and will look to add a reserve driver to their roster for the upcoming season.

Heidfeld said: “I am proud to be part of Mahindra Racing where we have been going from strength to strength in Formula E. It’s exactly where I want to be and I am delighted to extend my contract and commitment to target even more success. I am thrilled and can’t wait to compete in my M4Electro in this ever-improving championship.”

Rosenqvist said: “I’m thrilled to be back for a second season in Formula E and to extend my relationship with Mahindra Racing. That was our mutual intention from the very beginning, and we’ve already completed a series of promising tests with the M4Electro in recent months. Moving into season four, I will draw on everything I learned in 2016/17 to try and lift us to the next level. It will be a massive challenge with stiff competition, but we have a solid foundation and are all fully-committed to taking the fight to the very best.”
