Jake Dennis takes maximum points for BMW in Formula E: Accelerate Driver Challenge

Jake Dennis (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) topped the tree of 12 Formula E drivers who lined up in Diriyah to take on the Formula E: Accelerate Driver Challenge, with the points counting towards the Teams’ standings in the final shakeup.

BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Jake Dennis took the race win in the Formula E: Accelerate Driver Challenge in Diriyah, leading from pole and steering clear of the chaos behind to head home Sergio Sette Camara (DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT) and ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Norman Nato.

It all kicked off into the first corner but Dennis had started well and found himself in the clear - able to stay out of trouble out front. The Brit was rarely troubled throughout, and crossed the line over seven seconds clear of Sette Camara.

The Brazilian picked his way through the drama at the start – more like Wreckfest than rFactor 2 – and with six places made up, brought his PENSKE EV-5 home second. Similarly, once he found his way around that first lap, Nato managed a measured run to third spot.

Nyck de Vries made ground through ATTACK MODE to pinch fourth, as the Mercedes-EQ racer profited from a coming together between fifth placed Sebastien Buemi (Nissan e.dams) and Jean-Eric Vergne – the double Formula E champion forced into retirement after coming off worst and spearing into the wall on the back straight with four minutes to run.

Andre Lotterer (TAG Heuer Porsche), Tom Blomqvist (NIO 333), Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) were the final three finishers, while Dennis' win added valuable points to the cause in BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Formula E: Accelerate Teams' Championship hunt.

"That was the first time I’d ever driven the Formula E simulator and it was good fun and nice to win with all the chaos going on around me!" said Dennis.
