Maya Jama named first official judge of Formula E's Open Talent Call for Presenters

British TV and radio presenter Maya Jama was announced today as the first official judge for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship Open Talent Call for Presenters, which is aiming to discover a talented young presenter or commentator to become a part of the team for the opening round of the 2020/21 season in Santiago, Chile.

Maya has presented shows across BBC One, BBC Radio 1, Channel 4, ITV and MTV in the UK and she's currently co-host of BBC One's Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer - having worked her way into the industry as a teenager.

“I’m really excited to be working with Formula E and think it’s really important to be able to widen access to this industry," Maya said. "So I’m honoured to be a part of it and can’t wait to see who we discover along the way."

Maya will be joined by other well-known judges, who will be announced in the coming weeks. Each will bring their own distinct personality and experience to the mix, and they will be tasked with cutting the 15 shortlisted entrants selected from the Open Talent Call down to four semi-finalists who will then be invited to attend Formula E pre-season testing to take on a series of on-screen challenges.

Get involved!

Whether you are a budding presenter, pit-lane reporter or sports commentator, you’re invited to enter our Open Talent Call for 18-24 year olds who are #PositivelyCharged.

Four finalists will be assigned experienced mentors and receive professional media training. One lucky winner will earn themselves a presenting contract to host Formula E alongside our existing on-air and online presenter line-up at the opening race of Season 7 scheduled to take place in Santiago, Chile on 16 January 2021.

#PositivelyCharged

Formula E was founded with a bigger purpose: to counteract the devastating effects of climate change by accelerating the development and adoption of electric vehicles.

The recent launch of Formula E’s #PositivelyCharged manifesto, as part of the FIA’s #PurposeDriven initiative, further reasserted our commitment to creating better futures through racing.

The Open Talent Call for Presenters is the first activity in our Positive Futures programme, which focuses on democratising opportunities for young, diverse talent both on and off the track.
