Over 50,000 childrens' messages pledge to fight climate change

Record-breaking card mosaic in Marrakesh

The FIA Formula E Championship has joined forces with Wave Earth for an attempt at the record for the world’s largest greeting card mosaic.

Children from across the world wrote on postcards pledges of what they will do to reduce their carbon footprint and fight global warming. According to the rules laid out by Guinness, each child had to write their commitment, name, city and country, as well as a drawing.

With 50,581 cards collected for the attempt, the previous best of 24,000 was easily surpassed, although ratification from Guinness is required for the record to be official. The cards were laid out in the eVillage of the Circuit Moulay El Hassan, where a number of the children who’d written the cards posed with the 20 Formula E drivers.

The cards were collected from schools in cities that including Montevideo, Hong Kong and Marrakesh by electric cars. They were then transported by electric vehicles to the track, which is hosting the inaugural Marraskesh ePrix on November 12.
