Sport TV retain rights to Formula E in Portugal

Portugal’s leading sports network Sport TV will continue to broadcast live coverage of the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2015-2016 season.

Sport TV is one of several new broadcasters including previously announced television deals alongside FOX Sports, TV Asahi, ITV, Eurosport, Canal+ and Rai.

Ali Russell, Director of Media and Strategic Partnerships at Formula E, said: “Formula E is proud to announce its continued partnership with Sport TV. We look forward to our increased co-operation and hope to build on the increasing presence of the series in Portugal.”

Nuno Ferreira, Director of Sport TV Portugal, said: “We are very happy to continue this partnership. Sport TV has shown Formula E since the very first race confirming a fast growing interest from our audience. We believe that Formula E has everything to be a very competitive sport and Sport TV will be very keen to keep engaging the Portuguese fans as much as possible.”

Antonio Felix da Costa, Formula E driver for Team Aguri, said: “Formula E races are among the most exciting races in any motorsport series. The city-centre street tracks make for action-packed races with a great level of drivers on the grid taking the fight to another level. For this innovative championship to be broadcast live in Portugal gives me great pride in my country and hopefully, like in Malaysia, I can give the fans something to cheer for.”
