Marking his return to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship after joining Dragon following the departure of Neel Jani last season, Jose Maria ‘Pechito’ Lopez will remain with the American team for Season 5 of the series.
“[my] expectations are to be competitive from the start to achieve top spot results. The team has put in an incredible effort during this, and I am looking forward to working with them to keep improving and evolving throughout the season," said Lopez.
Despite having three World Touring Car Drivers’ Championship titles to his name, the Argentinian driver finished 17th overall last season. Making his public debut behind the wheel next generation Penske EV-3 making in pre-season testing next week, Lopez will be keen to make an impact as a new season of the all-electric championship begins.
“José showed a lot of promise in Season 4 and has been an invaluable asset in the development of the package for Season 5. He is a real racer, and I am confident that his capabilities, paired with the evolution of our engineering organization will prove to be a winning formula this season.
