Porsche takes Manufacturers' Trophy lead in Misano

Porsche left the inaugural Misano E-Prix double-header in the lead of the Manufacturers' Trophy standings for the first time this season with a 33-point advantage over early championship leaders Jaguar.

porsche celebrates misano victory podium

After a rollercoaster weekend that saw the legendary German marque and Antonio Felix da Costa disqualified from the victory on Saturday, there was redemption on the cards for the following day as Pascal Wehrlein returned to the top step in fine form to become the only repeat winner in Season 10 so far. Customer team Andretti added to their points haul with a pair of podium finishes from reigning champion Jake Dennis.

There were points on the board for Jaguar but they saw the Manufacturers' Trophy lead slip from their hands this weekend. Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy had the best finish after snatching third in an incredibly close drag race to the finish line, but with factory team drivers each having one non-scoring finish and no points from the customer Envision team, the British manufacturer fell behind their rivals at Porsche by 33 points.

This helped Nissan close the gap as Oliver Rowland inherited the victory on Saturday to continue his podium streak, unfortunately for the Brit, he ran out of useable energy from the lead on Sunday and missed out on completing a double victory in Misano. Still, with points coming from teammate Sacha Fenestraz and the Nissan-powered pair of NEOM McLaren's Jake Hughes and Sam Bird, the Japanese manufacturer is now within three points of Jaguar and second in the standings.

In their home race, the shared STELLANTIS powertrain picked up a total of 35 points to add to their tally from the Maserati MSG Racing and DS PENSKE outfits. Noteworthy finishes came from Maximilian Guenther who was promoted from his fourth-place finish on Saturday to third and a podium for the House of Trident, while Jehan Daruvala picked up his first points of the season -becoming the first Indian driver to score points since Karun Chandhok in 2014.

Close at the bottom of the table between Electric Racing Technologies and Mahindra. First up, ERT's Dan Ticktum and Sergio Sette Camara picked up points in both races for one of the team's best weekends in Season 10.

While the Indian manufacturer's factory team continued the point-less season, customer team ABT CUPRA came close to a podium position but had to settle for a season-best finish of fourth from Nico Mueller.

How the scoring for the Manufacturers' Trophy works

The scoring for this trophy mirrors that of the Teams' Championship, with points awarded based on the performance of each manufacturer's two highest-scoring cars in every race (1st place: 25 points; 2nd place: 18 points; 3rd place: 15 points etc.). Points for Pole Position and Fastest Lap are also factored into the totals.

Formula E introduced a new Manufacturers' Trophy to recognise the most successful manufacturers competing, with 11 teams representing six different manufacturers going after the top honours in Season 10:

Jaguar Jaguar TCS Racing, Envision Racing
Porsche TAG Heuer Porsche, Andretti
