Mitch Evans went quickest in both practice sessions in Monaco.

Mitch Evans was on a roll, and managed to go quickest in Free Practice 2 – topping both timesheets so far on this Monaco morning. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver has got three podiums here but never the win, and is looking in a strong place as we prepare for qualifying next up.

The top two were the same as FP1, with Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns going second again.

Both TAG Heuer Porsche drivers were third and fourth, with Pascal Wehrlein the quicker of the two. It was a better session for the current World Championship standings leader, who finished 14th after FP1. Maximilian Guenther was fifth for Maserati MSG Racing, who have got this as one of their home races.

NEWS: Jaguar commits to Formula E GEN4

The big story ahead of the practice session was Taylor Barnard, who will be making his Formula E race debut today with NEOM McLaren. Sam Bird has been forced to miss the rest of the race day, after fracturing his hand after an incident in FP1 this morning. The crash saw Bird go down the escape road at Turn 1 after a heavy lock up, and smash the front right side of his car into the barriers.

Free Practice 2 got underway at 9:14am local time, with the grid making the most of every minute around this challenging street circuit. The Jaguar TCS Racing cars continued their trend of being fastest, with Mitch Evans topping the session at the start with Sebastien Buemi (Envision Racing) behind in second and Nick Cassidy (Jaguar) in third.

Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara set a monster lap to go top of the timesheets, with a time of 1m30.452s. The Swiss driver has yet to score any championship points this season, but has been super close, and is a lover of street circuits – could this be his best chance yet? Unfortunately for the Mahindra pilot, he was pushing too hard with only a few minutes left on the clock and managed to go wide at Turn 1 and hit the barriers.
