Delivering a great show both on and off the track is central to the FIA Formula E Championship. With the aid of the latest technology, each event promises to be a fantastic spectacle from close racing and crowd interaction to paddock attractions and exhilarating music concerts...
On & off track
The most important aspect for Formula E is to create exciting and competitive racing where the best drivers and the best technology will succeed. To aid with this, especially when racing on narrow street circuits, Formula E has introduced features such as 'Push-to-Pass', giving drivers a temporary power boost, along with two mandatory pit stops to change cars. In between races there will also be a number of on track demonstrations and parades, while around the paddock fans will have a wide choice of attractions and stands to enjoy combining the very latest in technology, sport and environmental issues.
Even when the chequered flag has been waved, there will still be plenty for fans to enjoy. This will centre on a music concert with high-profile artists from around the world (details announced closer to the time) performing live on stage.
Formula E will provide comprehensive television coverage shown via major broadcasters around the globe. To date, Formula E has already signed a multi-year deal with major sports network FOX Sports providing live coverage of races in the US, South America together with 88 territories around the world. Formula E also has an exclusive deal with TV Asahi in Japan providing coverage on its cable, satellite and terrestrial platforms. Click here to learn more about television coverage.
TV production will be carried out by Aurora Worldwide Media using the latest equipment to ensure viewers receive the best possible quality. Online streaming will also be made available where possible together with live timing allowing fans to catch the action wherever they are. This will be complemented by a mobile app allowing fans to catch up on all the latest news, results and (during races) live timing.
Formula E is currently developing a high-tech video game allowing users to experience the thrill of the Spark-Renault SRT_01E themselves and on a variety of formats including mobile devices. What's more, gamers will be able to play in real time with the actual Formula E race via a 'ghost car' giving them the ultimate trackside experience.
Fans, whether watching live or at home, will also be able to interact before, during and after the race through Formula E's social media channels. As well as following the official Championship channels, you can also check out what the teams and drivers have been saying or get involved with competitions and even vote for your favourite driver who will receive one extra 'Push-to-Pass' - meaning you could play a role in influencing the race!
