Drivers unanimous in praise for Visa Paris ePrix

Sell-out crowd and huge podium ovation gets thumbs up from Formula E stars

Drivers unanimous in praise for Visa Paris ePrix

The inaugural Visa Paris ePrix has been praised by the drivers after a sell-out crowd witnessed Lucas di Grassi take a dominant win at the Les Invalides street circuit.

With a skyline that included the iconic Eiffel Tower, the challenging circuit provided plenty of entertainment for the fans, with over 20,000 attending throughout the day.

Championship leader Lucas di Grassi said: “To be honest, to be racing in Paris is just amazing. What Formula E has done to put on such a nice event with such a nice race track, and to put on a show in the centre of one of the best cities in the world just shows that promoting this electric technology can bring the crowd together even in such a cool environment.

“To see people all around the track cheering, on the inside of the track and the outside…it’s just amazing what was done here today and I hope we race here many more times and in more cities like Paris. This is what Formula E is about.”

Jean-Eric Vergne, who was born on the outskirts of the French capital and scored his first podium finish of the season added: “I think it was clearly the most amazing race that we’ve had in Formula E, even better than London. You can’t dream of a location better than Paris and this location. Building and running a race looking at the Eiffel Tower was magical and I’m extremely proud that Paris has been able to hold this event.

“The other thing I’m proud of is that we are going through a difficult time in France and Belgium with the sadness that has recently happened so for France and the city of Paris to do such an event is something incredible. It shows the strength of the country and of the city to organise an event like this.”
