Onwards to marvellous Monaco

After Misano, Formula E returns to the traditional street circuits and one of the most legendary street circuits - the Monaco E-Prix.

It's the fourth spin around the memorable full circuit, while motorsport legend Nelson Piquet famously compared racing around the Monegasque streets to riding a bicycle around your living room, Formula E has proven that you can overtake in Monaco with countless passes around the legendary circuit.

For the win

There has only been one repeat winner in Monaco when Sebastien Buemi (Envision Racing) went back-to-back winning in the first visit in Season 1 and then on the bounce again in Season 3, and there are a couple of drivers in the wings ready to equal the Swiss driver's accolade this weekend.

After a rollercoaster weekend in Misano saw Antonio Felix da Costa disqualified from the victory in the Saturday race, the TAG Heuer Porsche driver arrives at the scene of one of his most famous Formula E victories. The Portuguese driver won in stunning fashion with a daring last-lap lunge around the outside of Mitch Evans at the Nouvelle Chicane - enjoy the action-packed final lap below...

His denied victory in Misano was another sterling feat, coming through the field from 13th on the grid to cross the line first with a perfectly timed run to the front in a dramatic race. Da Costa races on pure emotion, and if there's a time and a place for redemption then it's Monaco - get the high dive board ready!

DS PENSKE will sport a special art-inspired livery this weekend in Monaco, bringing their own glitz and glamour for Jean-Eric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne. Both drivers have experienced the magic of victory in Monaco, scoring wins in both of their title runs.

Vergne Monaco win

JEV has been in the mix in Monaco, he scored a lights-to-flag victory in Season 5 and while that has yet to be repeated on these streets the Frenchman also knows what it takes to pass here having worked his way through from 22nd to finish in the points in seventh.

The two-time champion has been looking more competitive recently and came close to a podium in Misano, only to lose it following a post-race penalty. He's the new all-time Formula E points leader and will target those 25 points of the win on Saturday.

Podium potentials

Championship leader, Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche) has a best finish of fourth in Monaco but came very close to winning in Season 8 before a technical issue took him out of the race.

The German has been on the front row for this race on two occasions in 2019 and 2022 and will be looking to continue that form to keep hold of his lead in the Drivers' standings, remarkably Wehrlein's last five podium finishes have all been wins -can he add to that tally in Monaco?

RACE HIGHLIGHTS: 2024 Misano E-Prix, Round 7

Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy predicts the team will go through a rough patch after initially being one of the championship favourites heading into Season 10. While the factory Jaguar team have yet to win in Monaco, the New Zealander put their powertrain on the top last year, as his compatriot and now teammate, Mitch Evans completed a 1-2 for the nation.

Evans has been on the podium the most times in the Principality, and while he's yet to step on the top step he's led more laps of the Monaco E-Prix than any other driver without ever winning the race. The New Zealander has only one podium finish this season, being beaten to the victory in São Paulo on the last lap. Should Evans find himself in first on the last lap, he'll be hoping to avoid any last-lap overtakes for a third time!

Jake Dennis has been vocal about not having the same comfort in his Andretti machine compared to his championship-winning campaign last year. This, however, has not slowed the Brit down in his title-defending season, much like 2023 he's still racking up the podiums and heads to Monaco with a trio of visits to the rostrum.

Will we see another dark horse performance from Nico Mueller? The ABT CUPRA driver put in his best race performance since returning to the series last year, narrowly missing out on third in that chaotic final dash to the finish line - losing out by only 0.050s.

The Swiss driver knows how to win in Monaco, taking the victory from pole in the 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 series, against a field that included Carlos Sainz, Kevin Magnussen, Antonio Felix da Costa and Stoffel Vandoorne.

One lap pace

The outright lap record sits with Sacha Fenestraz when the then-rookie rocketed around the Monegasque streets in his Duel Semi-Final with a top time of 1:28.773. The French-Argentine driver has been in a bit of a slump in recent races but has the speed and this would be the perfect location to recover that.

Monaco Moment - Fenestraz

The Nissans could be a dangerous pairing for qualifying until the second race in Misano Oliver Rowland was on an unbeaten streak in the Duels. The British driver has previous form in Monaco too, having also taken the pole position in his rookie year in Season 5 - only to serve a grid drop penalty that carried on from the previous race.
