Tackling the Tempelhof trial
It's the big 1-0 and with Formula E's decade of racing in Berlin, there's a new challenge on the concrete apron that makes up the historic Tempelhof, with a brand new layout for the 10th race in the German capital.

The unforgiving concrete that lines the historic airfield is testing for both energy and tyre management, the teams would usually arrive here with reams and reams of data to pore over, but with the start/finish flipped to the opposite side there's a new set of twist and turns that zig-zag across the concrete slabs.
For the win
When decisive energy management comes into play, the prior form gauge flips to the Porsches out on the field, but with another energy-critical race forecast. It's anyone's game in Berlin.
In Misano, the TAG Heuer Porsche pair were strong on energy conservation and surviving in the pack before the dash to the flag in the closing stages. Antonio Felix da Costa demonstrated this before being stripped of the win on Saturday before teammate and championship leader scored redemption for the German squad the following day in Italy.
Wehrlein heads into his and Porsche's home race at the top of the standings, the German is the only multiple-race winner in Season 10 and will be looking to add to that tally and extend his lead in the Drivers' standings. Is there ever a better place to do that, than in front of a home crowd? The Berlin fans have seen homegrown winners before and will be urging Wehrlein on this weekend.
Da Costa could be the stronger of the two if history repeats. The Portuguese driver was unstoppable around here with a championship-winning performance back in Season 6. He has a lot to prove as we land in Berlin, and will be buoyed by the back-to-back wins in 2020, including that grand slam win.
The Porsche party could be spoiled though, with Jaguar TCS Racing sat ready to spoil their celebrations. Both legs of the double-header were won by Jaguar power last season, including a one-two finish for Jaguar TCS Racing in the Saturday race. Nick Cassidy, then with Envision Racing, and Mitch Evans shared the wins in Season 9.
The New Zealand pair are coming off the back of another one-two victory from Monaco just two weeks ago, this is another race that could be won and lost in the ATTACK MODE phases and they showed how teamwork makes the dream work.
Podium Potentials
From nine years and 18 races in Berlin, there have been a fair few drivers to reach the podium: 22 to be exact. A clash might see a bunch of those not present, with five drivers being substituted for the 2024 pair of races, of those lining up this weekend there are some good names primed for the podium.
The German fans have experienced two home winners in Berlin, one was Daniel Abt's perfect weekend scoring the first grand slam in Formula E history, and the next was in the hands of Maximilian Guenther in 2020.
The German has had a much better first half to the season compared with last year where he scored no races before reaching Berlin, he's currently tied with Wehrlein and Jean-Eric Vergne (DS PENSKE) for the most points finishes in Season 10. Berlin also marked his first podium visit with Maserati MSG Racing last year when he finished third in the Saturday race.
Another former Berlin winner and someone who scored a debut Formula E victory in Tempelhof is Oliver Rowland. The Brit took his first win in commanding style, leading from lights-to-flag.
He's been on form since returning to Nissan for Season 10. Taking a quartet of podiums and inheriting the win after da Costa's disqualification in Misano. He nearly followed that up with a win on track, only to run out of useable energy on the last lap in the second Misano race. Rowland managed sixth in Monaco and is still in title contention heading into Berlin, where he will be gunning for that on-track win.
Could we see a surprise on the rostrum? Last season saw Dan Ticktum (NIO 333) start the race from the second row of the grid and get a tremendous launch of the line to lead the first lap of the race, that one ended in a DNF for the Brit but he followed up with a 10th in the second race.
Berlin is another race foxussed on energy management, with usable energy saved in the slipstream, and Ticktum picked up a career-best Formula E finish in the last of this style in Misano, coming through the pack in the final stages after conserving and crossing the line in fourth. Can he go one better in Berlin and score a debut podium?
One lap pace
Last time out in Monaco, Wehrlein scored his third Julius Baer Pole Position of the season. He's had the most Duel appearances this year with seven and is the only driver to start every race in the top 10. A big improvement on last season's qualifying performance from the Porsche driver.
Jaguar TCS Racing are the best two-car team on average when it comes to qualifying this year, with at least one car reaching the Duel stages at every race.
However, should the weather take a turn for the worse, keep an eye out for ABT CUPRA. expect Lucas di Grassi and Nico Mueller's stand-in Kelvin van der Linde to perform all kinds of rain dance rituals in the paddock come the weekend.
One driver who has good form in putting it on pole is Jean-Eric Vergne, who has taken three in Tempelhof (and four in Berlin including the one race around Karl Marz Allee, giving him the most poles in a single location. The DS PENSKE driver also had a memorable Duel in Berlin, when the Frenchman clocked the exact same time as former Formula E driver and race winner Alexander Sims.
