One lap wonders: Who's quickest over a lap in Season 8 so far?

Midway through the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, let's take a look at who's been fastest over one lap in qualifying and the eight rounds we've raced in Season 8 so far.

Quali kings

We've seen six Julius Baer Polesitters from eight races up to this point of the campaign. Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) sealed first spot on the grid in Diriyah, followed by his teammate and reigning champion Nyck de Vries.

WAYS TO WATCH: Where and how to watch every minute of Season 8

In Mexico, Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein made it count and converted pole in Mexico City with Vandoorne doubling up in Rome for his second of the season.

Jean-Eric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) headed the way for Round 5 in Rome, with Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) sitting on pole in Monaco. Edoardo Mortara is the man in form, having taken two Julius Baer Pole Positions from two in Berlin last time out.

That's not the full story, though. The best average qualifier is Andre Lotterer (Porsche). The German veteran has never dropped out of the top eight, and as a result, he's never failed to make the Duels - the only driver to do so. Four top four berths drag his average qualifying position down to just 4.8 - a way ahead of next-best Vergne at 5.6 with six Duels appearances.

Incumbent champ de Vries is third best, while teammate and current Drivers' World Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne fourth most effective over the new Groups and Duels qualifying format with an average grid slot of 6.3.

The NIO 333 Racing pair of Oliver Turvey and Dan Ticktum have struggled to make it count in qualifying this season, sitting 19th and 20th in the average grid position table. Antonio Giovinazzi (DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT) sits bottom of the pile in 21st.
