Formula E's moment of recognition for Saudi Arabia's Society of Autism Families

Formula E's moment of recognition for Saudi Arabia's Society of Autism Families

Ahead of the opening round of Season 7, Formula E paused for a Positively Charged moment of recognition to celebrate the great work of the Society of Autism Families (SAF), the championship's local charity partner for the Diriyah E-Prix.

Formula E looks to build positive lasting legacies in our host cities through community engagement and partnerships with local charities, putting people directly in the focus of our sustainability agenda.

Throughout Season 7, the championship will celebrate and reflect on these important connections with Positively Charged moments on the grid ahead of each race event.

The Society of Autism Families (SAF) is a non-profit charitable organisation that provide professional support, as well as funding for projects and activities that aim to bring happiness and boost the mental and physical wellbeing of children with autism and their families.

Formula E: #PositivelyCharged

To highlight and recognise the good work of their cause, we welcomed Prince Saud bin Abdul Aziz bin Farhan Al-Saud, Chairman of the Charitable Society of Autism, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Faisal Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, Carlo Boutagy Founder & CEO, CBX alongside Alejandro Agag, Founder & Chairman of Formula E, Jamie Reigle, Chief Executive Officer of Formula E and Alberto Longo, Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer.

We are proud of this partnership that increases opportunities to expand the role of the motorsport in terms of inclusion and reach all segments of the population in Saudi Arabia. Formula E’s #PositivelyCharged spirit, as part of FIA's #PurposeDriven movement, is committed to accelerating sustainable human progress through the power of electric racing.

SAF's Diriyah E-Prix

Last year, during the double-header season opener in Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud bin Abdul Aziz bin Farhan Al-Saud - SAF's Chairman - helped to raise awareness of the disorder by accompanying families of the charity to the E-Prix

“We wanted to utilise Formula E because the racing cars used in Formula E are noiseless, which is perfect for people with autism,” said Prince Saud at the time. "These events bring opportunities to raise awareness about their needs in society.”

“We are grateful to Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki (Al-Faisal, GSA Chairman) and the GSA for giving us a special opportunity to engage the autistic youth in such an important event, and we are equally thankful to the Formula E leadership and their team who gave us unlimited support to ensure a joyful experience for our youth."

With 11 years of experience in helping people with autism and their families, Prince Saud was appointed as chairman of the board in May 2019. Since then, he has been working on several innovative projects to develop the SAF, including this partnership with Formula E.
