TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team's Andre Lotterer headed teammate Pascal Wehrlein in the damp, chilly early-morning practice session ahead of the DHL Valencia E-Prix Round 6.

Porsche's Andre Lotterer headed the way in a damp, chilly Free Practice 3 ahead of the DHL Valencia E-Prix Round 6, from teammate Pascal Wehrlein and Jaguar Racing's Sam Bird.

The tricky conditions caught more than a few drivers out, even as the morning sun broke through the clouds. Edo Mortara was the first to fall foul as he locked the rear tyres of his Venturi and pirouetted into the gravel, causing a red flag to be thrown.

Oliver Rowland (Nissan e.dams) had set the early pace, but once the full-power runs began towards the session's close, Sergio Sette Camara (DRAGON / PENSKE AUTOSPORT) was the benchmark.

Lotterer, Wehrlein, Bird and Nick Cassidy (Envision Virgin Racing) all pipped the Brazilian, with Norman Nato (ROKiT Venturi Racing), Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler), Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ), Jake Dennis (BMW i Andretti Motorsport) and Round 5 winner Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ) rounded out the top 10.

As always, it's not entirely about pure pace in practice. Energy management has proven to be the key factor for teams to get their heads around this weekend - with adjustments in strategy undoubtedly being trialled for Round 6.

Teams also work through and tweak their systems, setups, FANBOOST and ATTACK MODE deployments as well as practice starts to make sure they're optimised for qualifying and the race later in the day.

FANBOOST

Voting is still open for FANBOOST until 15 minutes into Round 6, with Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler) heading the way with a chunky 28 per cent of the vote ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) NIO 333's Oliver Turvey, Antonio Felix da Costa (DS TECHEETAH) and Nick Cassidy (Envision Virgin Racing).
