Nissan e.dams retain Buemi and Rowland for 2019/20

Nissan e.dams will retain both championship runner-up Sebastien Buemi and top rookie Oliver Rowland for the next season of ABB FIA Formula E championship.

Coming off the back of a record-breaking season that saw the team claim six of the 13 Julius Baer pole positions and feature in every single Super Pole shoot-out, Nissan are hoping that continuity will be the perfect ingredient for championship success in 2019/20.

As one of the championships top drivers, Sebastien Buemi had a slow start to last season, but a run of podiums from Bern onwards and securing Nissan's debut victory in the first race in New York put the Swiss ace within grasp of winning the championship, only to lose out to Jean-Eric Vergne in the final race. Speaking on continuing his partnership with Nissan e.dams, Buemi said: "We had good pace in season five, and I hope to build on that momentum. There are some new manufacturers joining in season six, but we have much more experience now as a team, and that’s going to make us more competitive."

Oliver Rowland was brought into the Nissan e.dams fold in the last hour and impressed with his lightning pace from the off-set, topping the timesheets in 10 practice and qualifying sessions throughout the season and earning Nissan's first-ever podium in Sanya. With more time in the seat, Rowland will be more prepared for 2019/20, he said: “I had a great first season, but now it’s time to prepare properly for my second year and come back even stronger. I came into season five with very little experience, but I think I adapted quite well. I felt very comfortable with the team, and I had a lot of support from everyone."

Nissan’s global motorsports director, Michael Carcamo added: “Sebastien’s run to second place in season five and his attitude as a team player, made him an easy choice for our season six lineup. Oliver proved to be a very fast learner, and we quickly got used to seeing his name at the top of the time sheets. There’s no doubt we have an outstanding driver combination."

Nissan e.dams will join the rest of the Formula E field when they take to the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia for the official pre-season test ahead of the first round in Saudi Arabi on November 22.
