In order to maximise our impact in accelerating awareness on the climate crisis and the global uptake of electric vehicles, we work with various partners to strengthen our position.
In partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, Formula E is working to raise awareness of the detrimental impact of air pollution and empower individuals, governments and private companies to take part in the fight to #BeatAirPollution.
Through the championship, we raise awareness on urban air pollution and the benefits of electric mobility as we race in the heart of some of the world’s most iconic cities across five different continents. In addition, Brazilian Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi was also named the UN Environment Programme Clean Air Advocate.
In seasons four and five we activated the #BreatheLife Campaign in our Allianz E-Village in some cities with an interactive photo booth to engage fans on the importance of clean air and encourage people to commit, join and learn more. For season six we are scaling up our engagement with UNEP and have prepared a comprehensive set of activities to inspire our audiences and partners to #BeatAirPollution. Make sure you check these at our races and digital platforms!
Our partnership with The Climate Group presents a shared drive to accelerate climate action. In season four, The Climate Group became a Foundation Partner of Formula E to signify our joint vision for a world of prosperous ‘net-zero’ emission economies and thriving, sustainable societies.
As an official ambassador of the EV100 programme, Formula E is part of a global initiative to bring together pioneering companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles. Formula E is also a signatory of RE100, which is a commitment to reach 100% renewable energy.
Key moments in our partnership so far include launching the ZEV Challenge in July 2018 as a global initiative to amplify world’s business, state and city purchasing power in a large-scale push for a zero emission vehicle future, and the introduction of the Climate Action award at our end of season gala awards in July 2019, which recognises efforts in advancing the fight against climate change with ambition, innovation and pace within the Formula E ecosystem.
"The Climate Group is a proud partner of Formula E. Our organisations share a drive to accelerate climate action. Together we’re focused on making electric transport powered by renewable energy into the global norm. We’re delighted that Formula E is a member of The Climate Group’s RE100 campaign, joining over 130 other global businesses in making the commitment to 100% renewable electricity across its operations. In the future, we’ll be working closely with Formula E to encourage businesses and governments to make bold commitments to scaling up electric vehicle use as part of our EV100 initiative.”

Relationships with our international foundation partners are the tyres that move our work forward. We reach global audiences with positive innovations for a better future through our international partner, Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation. The Foundation supports our role as a sports platform fighting climate change and as an innovator in the future of sustainable mobility.
“Formula E is a way to change the world, to help it progress, by advancing differently. Indeed, more than ever before we need to advance differently. At a time when our planet is in danger, when global warming is disrupting its natural balance, and above all, the use of fossil fuels is directly responsible for this situation, we have dire need of a radical change. I believe sincerely, profoundly, that Formula E can be one of the vectors of this change.”
