Founding partner BMW i supplies the BMW i8’s used as the championship safety cars, the all-electric BMW i3 medical and race control cars as well as the X5 xDrive40e plug-in hybrid rescue car.

As well as providing the fleet of hybrid and all-electric safety and official course cars, BMW i has also played a proactive role in the development of Formula E, fielding a full manufacturer works team in the form of BMW i Andretti Motorsport.

First entering the championship as a technical partner of Andretti's Formula E team, BMW i became a full works team ahead of the 2018/19 season, fulfilling the next logical step in the partnership.

With BMW i and BMW Motorsport working in tandem, the technology transfers to future generations of BMW road cars.
