Do you live in the fast lane and dream of being on screen? Do you want to use your voice to inspire the next generation? Then we want to hear from you!
The ABB FIA Formula E Championship is the world’s first fully electric racing series with a calendar of 14 races per year in 12 iconic global cities and we're looking for a new broadcast star to become part of our presenting team.
Founded to counteract climate change by accelerating the development and adoption of electric vehicles, Formula E has always had a purpose bigger than the sport itself. Our commitment to create better futures through racing includes a promise to nurture a culture of inclusivity.
As such, Formula E is searching for new, diverse young voices to join us in Season 7. We tasked all 18-24 year olds with sending us a comprehensive competition submission and we were inundated with entries of a very high standard from budding, #PositivelyCharged presenters, pitlane reporters and sports commentators ahead of the early-September deadline.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the first stage of the competition. We're now in the process of shortlisting 15 successful applicants who'll be introduced across our channels shortly, and the talent on show is sure to make that process extremely tough!
Maya Jama was the first judge on our panel to be announced, with more experts set to join her shortly ahead of the next round of the competition. Each will bring their own distinct personality and experience to the mix, and they will be tasked with narrowing those 15 shortlisted entrants selected from the Open Talent Call down to four semi-finalists who will then be invited to attend Formula E pre-season testing to take on a series of on-screen challenges.
The four finalists will then be assigned experienced mentors and receive professional media training. One lucky winner will earn themselves a presenting contract to host Formula E alongside our existing on-air and online presenter line-up at the opening race of Season 7 scheduled to take place in Santiago, Chile on 16 January 2021.
Please refer to the terms and conditions for full details on competition format and timelines.
"It's really important to be able to widen access to this industry. I can't wait to see who we discover along the way."
Maya Jama joins the judging panel and boasts an impressive array of expertise. After starting in the industry as a teenager, she has gone on to present a host of shows across BBC One, BBC Radio 1, Channel 4, ITV and MTV in the UK.
"As a racing driver - and as someone with a deep interest in content creation and the influencer world - I understand how competitive a career in sport can be and the perseverance, dedication and passion required to find opportunities to break into the industry."
Daniel Abt lines up on the judging panel for the Open Talent Call. A race-winner in Formula E, Abt turned the camera on himself to bring motorsport fans closer to the action. The German racer has amassed a large following on YouTube, Instagram and Tiktok.
