Frijns fastest, Envision Virgin Racing remains at the top

Envision Virgin Racing remains at the top after Robin Frijns topped the timesheets during the morning of testing day two. BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Gunther pulls in second for the third time while Mercedes de Vires suffers more trouble.

For the second consecutive day, Envision Virgin Racing came out on top during the morning session after Robin Frijns posted the fastest lap time of 1:15.377 - bettering his teammates performance in the afternoon session the day before.

Behind the Dutch driver was BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Max Guenther with a 1:15.434, who sat at the top of the timesheets for the majority of the session. The new BMW hire has proved to be one of the fastest drivers of the test at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia while his teammate Alex Sims came in third with a 1:15.437 lap. The BMW's look strong again after they proved to be the fastest during testing last season.

For reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne in his DS Techeetah, the Frenchman ranked 16th fastest in the morning, sitting ten places behind his new teammate Antonio Felix da Costa in sixth.

Nick de Vries collided with the chicane, causing damage to the front of his Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01. The rookie struggled to complete the first day of testing after stopping on track due to a technical issue during the morning session.

Moments later, TAG Heuer Porsche FE team's Andre Lotterer also clipped the chicane, throwing up another Red Flag. The seasoned driver transferred to Porsche from championship-winning team DS Techeetah at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Following Lotterer, another Red Flag appeared for Mahindra Racing's Jerome D'Ambrosio, who again sustained damage to his front wing after clipping the chicane while Venturi's Felipe Massa met the same fate, coming to a stop at the end of the pit lane.
