Danke Berlin! Formula E and BMW i combine to donate more than 50,000 pieces of PPE to Berlin

9 Days in Berlin - Episode 8: 'We don't come here to do anything other than win'

The final chequered flag fell last week on the unprecedented nine-day, six-race finale of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Berlin, with a new champion crowned and the series’ #PositivelyCharged platform launched – highlighting Formula E’s commitment to delivering better futures through racing.

With the season at an end and Tempelhof Airport now returned to its former state, in the spirit of #PositivelyCharged, Formula E is building upon existing relationships with Charite, Vivantes and other frontline organisations in Berlin affected by COVID-19.

With the support of BMW i, the championship is illustrating its gratitude and sincerest thanks to the German capital’s health sector and local community by donating more than 50,000 pieces of PPE to help in the continued fight against coronavirus.

A BMW Group statement said: “In a global crisis like the coronavirus pandemic, solidarity is more important than anything else. This is something the BMW Group believes in strongly. In particular, we would like to help doctors, nurses and carers. We want to support those people who do exceptional things every day.”

"Thank you Formula E and BMW i for this initiative and your support in our fight against COVID-19," said Professor Dr. Dr. Karl-Heinz Seeger of Charite.

"This generous donation of face masks and eye protection will certainly help to prevent the spread of the disease. As this and last year, we’re looking forward for your visit again next season!"
