Lucas di Grassi set the quickest time during a shortened second practice as Abt Schaeffler ended the session first and second.
Di Grassi had just completed 200kW lap in 1:37.279s when Andretti’s Simona de Silvestro hit the wall, bringing out the red flag. The Swiss racer was unhurt, but with only a few minutes of the session remaining, there was no time to get the track action restarted.
This meant many of the drivers didn’t have a chance to run a qualifying simulation and left Daniel Abt in second place with a time of 1:37.993s. Stephane Sarrazin was third for Venturi, while Antonio Felix da Costa was fourth for Team Aguri.
For the first time this weekend Renault e.dams didn’t top the session with Nico Prost its fastest driver in fifth. Sebastien Buemi was back in ninth.
After his troubles in the morning session, Nelson Piquet Jr managed to get some running in for NEXTEV TCR, but was back in 12th, just behind team-mate Oliver Turvey. Technical troubles prevented Jacques Villeneuve from setting a time for Venturi.
