Sebastien Buemi will not start from pole position for this afternoon’s Long Beach ePrix after his e.dams-Renault was adjudged to have exceeded its power usage.
As the incident happened during the red flag period, the Swiss driver only loses his fastest time, which drops him back to 10th. The decision means that Daniel Abt will start from the front of a Formula E grid for the first time. The Audi Sport ABT driver will be joined on the front row by championship leader Nico Prost (e.dams-Renault).
Antonio Felix da Costa was also penalised for the same offence. Like Buemi he just loses his fastest time, which means he lines-up seventh.
