Did you know...before Formula E, Filippi drove in a variety of single-seater series, from Formula One to GP2 and, more recently, IndyCar?
Former Italian IndyCar driver Luca Filippi joins NIO Formula E Team ahead of Season Four, alongside British teammate Oliver Turvey.
Born in Savigliano, Italy in 1985 Filippi started racing in karting competitions at the age of eight.
Starting his single-seater career in 2003, he took part to the Formula RENAULT2000 Championship where he proved to be one of the most promising drivers. In 2005 he was singled out by FMS to race in the Italian Formula 3000, and won the Championship, ending the year with a drive in F1 for Minardi Team for the first time. Starting out in GP2 in 2006, Filippi achieved second place in the GP2 Asias Series four years later.
Starting out in the world of IndyCar in 2013, it was in 2015 that Filippi achieved his best result of the Championship in Toronto with a second place finish for Carpenter Fisher Hartman Racing racing team.
